In Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, Madeline Cenac constructed her dream home out of a dilapidated old cottage built in the 1800s. After moving the structure to her plot of lakeside property, Madeline, her family and architect Eddie Cazayoux renovated the old structure—already designed to be naturally cool in the humid South—for 21st-century living. Wanting to maintain the home’s historic, Southern charm, Madeline chose reclaimed, local materials for the update and focused on natural, vernacular materials to ensure comfort and efficiency.
